Returns
Last updated September 9, 2026
The short version: unmounted parts in their original boxes can come back within 30 days. Once a tire is mounted on a wheel, it cannot. We say that here, loudly, because it is the one rule that costs people money when they find it out late.
The one rule to read before you fit anything
A wheel with a tire mounted on it cannot be returned. Not by us, because not by our distributor — the moment a tire is pressed onto a rim the wheel is a used part, and the scratches from mounting are permanent.
So: unbox every wheel, check size, bolt pattern, offset and finish against your order, and test fit one wheel on the truck before any tire is mounted. Ten minutes on the driveway is the difference between a return and an expensive set of wall art.
What can come back
- Within 30 days of delivery.
- Unmounted, uninstalled, unmarked — no tires fitted, no lug marks, no scuffs on the hub face, no road time.
- In the original box, with the caps, hardware and paperwork it came with.
- Call or email first so we can get you a return authorization. A box that arrives at a distributor without one is refused at the door.
What cannot
- Wheels with tires mounted, and tires that have been mounted or driven on.
- Anything installed on a vehicle, even briefly, that shows it.
- Special orders — custom drilled, custom finished, or built to your spec. They were made for your truck and there is no shelf to put them back on. We tell you on the call when an item is special order, before you pay.
- Suspension and lift components that have been installed, and any part that has been modified, painted or machined.
What it costs
- Our mistake — wrong part sent, part that does not match what we confirmed on your call, damage in transit reported within 48 hours: we cover everything, both ways. No restocking fee. Ever.
- Changed your mind, or ordered the wrong thing: return shipping is yours, and the distributor charges a restocking fee of up to 20%. We tell you the exact figure before you ship anything back, not after.
Damaged or defective
Tell us within 48 hours of delivery, with photos of the part and the box. Manufacturing defects are covered by the maker's warranty — finishes, structural defects and workmanship all have their own terms, and we make the claim with you rather than handing you a phone number.
Damage from potholes, curbs, off-road use, improper installation or the wrong torque is not a defect, and no manufacturer covers it. We will still help you work out what happened.
How a return actually goes
- Email hello@buildmytruck.us with your order and what is wrong.
- We send a return authorization and the address to ship to. Write the number on the outside of the box.
- Ship it insured, in the original packaging. Keep the tracking number.
- The distributor inspects it — usually a few days after it lands.
- Your refund goes back to the card you paid with, within about five business days of that inspection passing.
Cancelling before it ships
Call us. If the order has not left the warehouse we cancel it and refund in full, no fee. Once it is moving it becomes a return, so the sooner you call the cheaper it is.
